Qatar Quilters Christmas Lunch at La Cigale

A great time was had by all! Thank you, Roberta, Pat, Soraya, and everyone who contributed to making sure we all had a good time. The door prizes were wonderful, and it was a time of great quilting fellowship.

November Guild Meeting and Challenge

Another glorious meeting, with the unveiling of the Holiday Challenge, and a visit from Mala to provide us with our quilting needs - and things we didn't even know we need!

As the quilts arrive in their anonymous bags, Debbie and Sandy are busy setting them up for the vote.

Giving Qatar Quilters time to find everything they need from Mala's Magic Suitcases:

What did you find, Quilters?

The meeting starts, and Wendy wins the Licorice and Chocolate Fat Quarter Draw.

Who will be the lucky winners of the Focus Fabric blocks?

Belinda !

And Karen!

It's time to take a close look at the Challenge contestants, and to vote!

While the results are tallied, we have Show and Tell, starting with Wendy's Sampler Quilt:

Patricia shows a sample of the quilt we will work on at the meeting December 30th:

Patricia's raffle quilt:

Patricia's KaleidoStars baby quilt:

Carmen gives the Quilt-As-You-Go a whirl:

Carmen shows a new Christmas hanging:

Carmen's Cardinal quilt for her Mom:

Diane discusses her Butterfly Applique Quilt:
Molly shows us her finished Card Trick:
And her crenelated pillowcase:
Janet shows us her newest baby quilt, Kisses and Hugs -

With it's soft and textured back that any baby would love!

Mala shows us her Boxes quilt and what you can do with the right machine doing your quilting.

The Holiday Challenge is complete. Every single entrant was a winner - the entries were each fabulous. Voting was hard - and close.

In the end, six years of hard work paid off for Joy, who walks away with top honors. She said she spent months sewing on the embellishments that gives this quilt it's twinkle:

A very close second - Sandy's Adoration Quilt, with stars and camels and wise men:

A very close Third, Shirley's 12 Days of Christmas, which she says her husband calls the 12 Years of Christmas for the amount of time she has spent hand quilting the entire quilt with tiny fine quilting stitches:

Yoghini claims the Victorian Patchwork Stocking:

Wendy's entry is the Nativity Quilt:

Molly displays her Christmas Village, Santa and Reindeer Quilt:

Marya has a quilt of jolly witches:

Tammy has a three dimensional quilted piece, with hand embroidery:

Lisa displays her 12 Days of Christmas Quilt:

We won't be meeting up again as an entire Guild until after all the holidays - Thanksgiving, Eid, Christmas and New Years. See you at the next meeting, Wednesday, January 27, 2010! Happy Quilting!
